LSU law professor Ken Levy was reinstated to his teaching position by a district judge on Thursday afternoon.
After making partisan statements regarding Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry and U.S. President Donald Trump, Levy was removed from his teaching role by the school pending an internal investigation. Levy responded with a lawsuit on Wednesday.
19th Judicial District Court Judge Don Johnson ordered Levy returned to the classroom as part of a temporary injunction during the lawsuit. It was done to protect the professor’s “academic freedom and free speech,” and because he would suffer the threat of irreparable harm and loss should he remain out of a job, according to the judge.
Another hearing will take place next month on Levy’s request for injunctive relief.
This is a developing story.
