LSU Pitcher Anthony Eyanson, First Baseman Jared Jones and Shot Stop Steven “Monster” Milam spoke to the media after winning the Baton Rouge Super Regional 12-5 against West Virginia.
Eyanson kicked off the press conference talking about how he pitched against a difficult line up.
“Just had to mentally lock in a little bit more than normal,’ Eyanson said, ‘had to be myself.”
Consistently throughout the year, the LSU players and staff emphasized how this team is capable of making it to Omaha, and Jones touched on the journey…
“It has been an unbelievable ride for us,” Jones said. “We went out there tonight to compete, and we had a lot of fun doing it.”
A crucial player of offense with 8 RBI was Milam. He had crucial at bats, and he talked about what worked well for him.
“I love the big moment,” Milam said. “I didn’t help my team as much as I wanted to this year, so I had to step up to take pressure off the other guys’… ‘You can punch in 15 other guys, and we are going to beat you.”
If LSU maintains this energy and fierce play in Omaha, they could make a run of the College World Series. Their first opponent will be the Arkansas Razorbacks, a team they mercy ruled 13-3 in regular season play.
