Twenty-five sleepy students started their Saturday by volunteering to help LSU Police install new safety systems in campus buildings.
These new safety systems seek to make students feel safer walking to and from class. Whether it’s updated camera surveillance or better lighting in the streets, LSU Police aim to protect the campus.
Students were asked to take pictures of each door on campus using iPads provided to them. They took pictures of the top, front, and sides of each door. These pictures will aid police in getting the proper measurements for the installation of these systems.
Despite LSU having 552 buildings, students were still able to successfully keep record of every exterior door on campus.
“I think LSU has done an amazing job improving safety on campus, a lot more lighting, a lot more police presence is one thing that really has been lacking,” LSU Student Body President Joseph Liberto said.
This project is just one way students can do their part on campus to help keep eachother safe through volunteer work.
