For most college students, balancing classes, homework, and a social life is already a full-time job. But one local student is adding entrepreneur to her resume running her own business while still working towards her degree.
Proving that passion, hard work, and hustle can create something truly beautiful.
From creating homemade products to spending hours braiding hair for clients Zae is the definition of a young entrepreneur.
What started as a simple idea to make products for herself, quickly turned into a growing business with customers from here on campus and now off campus.
“It was COVID and I was really bored, and I didn’t know what to do with my time. So usually I would do hair care and skin care remedies on youtube, and help people learn how to better take care of their natural skin. Before they put on makeup on so they can feel more confident cause I used to wear makeup a lot but when I started getting into my natural self it just made me more confident and I want other people to feel like that too,” student business owner Azalea Burns said.
“So I started making soaps first, then I started making face oils and face wash.”
But running a business while being a full-time student isn’t always easy. There are early mornings, late nights, and plenty of sacrifices along the way.
But for Zae, the hard work is worth it because every product she sells, every client she helps, is one step closer to her dream.
With social media as her storefront, word about Her Business is spreading fast. Friends, classmates, and customers rave about her products helping to build a community of loyal supporters who believe in her brand just as much as she does.
“Time management at LSU was probably the hardest thing I had to learn, I would say.”
For Zae, success isn’t just about making money, it’s about creating something meaningful, something lasting. And judging by how far she’s come already, this is only the beginning.
