UPDATE: LSU baseball vs. UCLA officially has a restart time in the morning. See details
With LSU baseball leading UCLA 5-3 in its second game of the College World Series, something came through to quash the Tigers’ momentum.
Rain.
LSU is no stranger to weather delays this season, having endured 19 of them on the year. Several of them have ended in rousing walk-offs at exactly 1:17 a.m.
This one postponed a game in which LSU took control after going down 0-3 in the top of the first inning. Jared Jones’ three-run home run in the bottom of the first put the Tigers in front.
There’s a thunderstorm watch in Omaha, Nebraska, until midnight. The Weather Channel radar has the rain dissipating around 11:30 p.m., but officials will be monitoring and things could change.
Is there a chance LSU’s game be postponed to the next day? It’s a real possibility. Officials in Omaha told the Reveille that the game can restart no later than 11 p.m.
If the weather delay is still ongoing then, the game will be moved to tomorrow, and every CWS game scheduled tomorrow will be moved back to make room. Per the NCAA’s CWS policies, each game must be played in succession.
According to the NCAA website, if the game is postponed to the next day, fans need to hold onto their tickets and can use it for re-entry tomorrow with no additional cost. There are also no refunds.
