LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier isn’t dressed out for the Tigers’ Saturday game against Arkansas, indicating he will not play.

Nussmeier’s status had been in doubt after previously being named questionable in LSU’s latest injury report. Multiple outlets reported he had aggravated a previous injury in practice.

Backup Michael Van Buren, a sophomore who’s in his first season at LSU after transferring from Mississippi State this offseason, will presumably start for LSU.

Van Buren played in 10 games for Mississippi State last year, throwing for 1,886 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also scored five rushing touchdowns.

Van Buren has also come into the game in relief of Nussmeier in each of LSU’s last two losses, totaling 110 yards and one touchdown across five offensive drives.

LSU faces Arkansas at 11:45 a.m. Saturday hoping to end a three-game losing streak that has dropped the team to 5-4. The Razorbacks are 2-7 on the year, and, like LSU, are led by an interim head coach.
