Despite a chance for a cold, cloudy game day Saturday, the E.J Ourso College of Business is going to host its second Business College Bash in the Business Education Complex – rain or shine.
The bash is essentially a large tailgate for business college alumni to network with one other and current student organizations within the college. There will be free food and drinks provided, as well as live music by the Bucktown All-Stars.
Admission is free to guests, which is only alumni and student organizations within the business college, and those interested must register before attending.
There were around 700 people in attendance last year, said Timothy Rodrigue, assistant director of alumni and external relations.
The large turnout is something to be proud of, Rodrigue said, because of the loyalty some fans have to certain long-standing tailgates.
Rodrigue said he expects around the same attendance this year even with the forecast of rainy weather. If it does begin to pour, the bash will move inside the Business Education Complex rotunda, where the band will play on the first floor and the crowd can gather on the second and third floor balcony, he said.
The large involvement of student organizations is something the College of Business wanted to implement so they can use the event “as a vehicle to invite alumni back to campus,” Rodrigue said.
Paul Broussard, marketing senior and Business College Council president, said student organizations within the college have been working for the past month to get the word out about the event.
The Business College Council has been promoting the event through social media and by sending emails to business college alumni, Broussard said, which is a role the business school administration handed over to them.
“[The Business College Council] is trying to be involved with more events like this,” Broussard said.
