The University Transition Advisory Team held its first meeting Jan. 8 to begin outlining the LSU System reorganization process that should come full-circle within 24 months.
At the meeting, SSA Consultant Principal Christel Slaughter outlined the planning process and the organization of five sub-committees and a legal and regulatory advisory board – a task that begins this week.
Although the approval of any reorganization plan is ultimately the decision of the Board of Supervisors, the Transition Advisory Team will meet with the Board as soon as March to discuss a preliminary direction for the changes.
The Transition Advisory Team’s final concept will be submitted in July, when the Board of Supervisors will give their decision and potentially begin fine-tuning the plan.
The sub-committees are assigned to key focus areas and are titled academic, finance and revenue, operations and technology, research and discovery, and student experience.
These committees will be chaired by members of the Transition Advisory Team and will be composed of representatives from each LSU campus as well as outside experts that will contribute to the discussion in their respective committees.
The legal and regulatory advisory board, which is also lead by members of the Transition Advisory Team, will guide the sub-committees through the process as needed.
