The Next Step ticket will appear in the University Court at 9:30 p.m. today because of a complaint issued regarding its campaign signs displayed at Bogie’s and Fred’s bars this weekend, said Brianna Crabtree, chief justice of Student Government.
Crabtree addressed the concerns at the SG Senate meeting Wednesday. A complaint was filed by a student regarding the signs and later investigated, but in the campaign codes set by SG, there is no black and white answer to the question of campaign banners in bars. She said the result of today’s proceedings would set a precedent for the future, although in the past, tickets have been asked to remove their banners from bars.
Crabtree said the complaint was not filed by an opponent of The Next Step.
SG also passed resolutions of thanks and appreciation for the Louisiana Delegation in support of and preparation for a team of six SG members to travel to Washington D.C. Sunday.
The team will travel with other Southeastern Conference schools’ student government representatives to lobby for higher education Sunday through Wednesday, said John Woodard, SG president.
