Rain or shine, Baton Rouge was dancing the night away at Groovin’ on the Grounds Friday night.
Director of programming Chelsey Gonzalez anticipated a great night after months of planning.
“It takes roughly a year to plan. That’s how long we take anyway, and you wouldn’t believe the work that goes into it, but at the end of the day, it’s definitely worth it,” Gonzalez said.
The night started with YouTube sensation Lil Finals Week on mic and straight to LSU’s homecoming Battle of the Bands winner Deacon Jones. Lead guitarist and singer Winston Triolo told Dig Baton Rouge this was their biggest show yet.
After Deacon Jones, the bank Pepper brought an interesting twist of reggae and comedy to the stage. Drummer Yesod Williams enjoys the special flair the band brings to its audience.
“We’re huge into comedy. We love comedy. It’s one of our favorite things in the world, so it’s spilled into our band,” Yesod said.
Yesod said that the band looks forward to having a good time playing on stage.
After Pepper, Weezer ran to the stage singing hit songs “Beverly Hills” and the classic “Buddy Holly.” Interviews and footage of Weezer were not recorded because of the release of their new album.
