Two LSU players garnered recognition for their 2013-2014 seasons on Tuesday when senior forward Theresa Plaisance was named to the All-Southeastern Conference First Team and freshman guard Raigyne Moncrief picked up an All-SEC Freshmen Team accolade.
Plaisance was the 13th Lady Tiger to pick up All-SEC First Team honors in the program’s history in consecutive seasons, while Moncrief was only the fourth LSU player ever to earn All-SEC Freshmen Team honors.
The duo proved to be a force throughout this season, especially in SEC play.
Moncrief has averaged 10.6 points per game and 8.9 against conference opponents. She has totaled a team-high 54 steals while also collecting 4.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.
Plaisance has shown her dominance on the court through her consistency, averaging 15.6 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per contest. She also leads the team with 40 blocks. Back on Jan. 23 against Auburn, Plaisance became the 18th player in LSU history to have 1,000 career points and 500 career rebounds.
Both will have to help their squad when the SEC Tournament begins on March 6. LSU has lost six straight games leading into the tournament.
