Last night the mystery was solved. At 7pm in the union ballroom LSU students were finally introduced to Adam and why so many people agree with him.
Their clever marketing plan with the bright orange signs and shirts with the question “Do you agree with Adam?” had the campus community curious about his message. Finally, at about 7:15pm Adam Roethelle, a Senior Kinesiology Major, walked on stage, in front of hundreds of people, and shared how a relationship with Jesus Christ had changed his life.
He describes his life before knowing Christ as “slavery,” bound by the chains of trying to keep up his reputation as a the “good guy” while fighting an addiction to women. After accepting Christ his freshman year he was able to find the freedom to be himself, not the image he tried to so hard to build and keep.
Organizer Vick Green, with the University Refuge Church, say the event was deigned to open a dialogue. “Whether you agree with Adam or no, we wanted open a safe space where people could talk about their beliefs,” says Green. Students were receptive to his message. Cailen Amourjones said his story was similar to hers, “It was so encouraging listening to him talk, it was awesome.”
The event was followed by an after party at the Barnes and Nobles on campus where students could discuss the event and enjoy a free coffee.
