One of the University’s largest recruiting events, The Career Expo, ended Wednesday and marked the beginning of the spring semester recruiting expos.
The expo, held in the PMAC, was separated by day to focus on different careers. Students interested in science, technology and engineering went on Tuesday, and liberal arts and business students came Wednesday.
“The companies that are here have invested time, money and resources to come to campus to talk directly to students,” said Associate Director for Employment Trey Truitt.
With 200 companies present at the expo, students were able to gain valuable face-time needed to connect with employers.
“It gives me a chance to show my face to employers so that I can hopefully get a job in the fall semester,” said mechanical engineer junior Jessica St.Julien.
Employers present, such as recruitment manager for Baton Rouge Coca-Cola Chantel Richard, searched for potential employees who can help expand their brand.
“We look for our company core values for and for most and they are integrity, respect, quality and excellence,” said Richard.
The Oldine Career Center will be hosting several other recruitment events in the upcoming months.
