Freshman defensive tackles Trey Lealaimatafao and Davon Godchaux were arrested by campus police last week in separate incidents.
Lealaimatafao was arrested July 24 for a bicycle theft that was reported July 1, said LSU Police Department spokesman Capt. Cory Lalonde. The San Antonio native claimed because the bicycle was not locked, he was allowed to take it.
Lealaimatafao returned the bicycle after his arrest.
Lealaimatafao was hospitalized last week with a severe injury to his left arm after punching through a glass window in the team’s weight room. He was released from the hospital Wednesday but is not expected to play in 2014.
Godchaux was arrested for criminal mischief on July 24 for an incident that happened early morning on July 21. Lalonde said the Plaquemine native threw a firecracker into a West Campus Apartment room, resulting in a couch inside the apartment catching fire.
Godchaux said the action was meant to be a prank and he had no intention of setting anything in the apartment on fire.
Lealaimatafao was named a four-star recruit by ESPN.com and recorded 53 tackles and seven sacks as a senior at Warren High School. He decommitted from Texas after the resignation of coach Mack Brown and chose LSU on National Signing Day.
Godchaux was another four-star recruit, despite being injured for the majority of his senior season at Plaquemine High School. He received All-State honors as a junior after totaling 60 tackles and 22 tackles for loss.
