According to a report by Yahoo! Sports reporter Rand Getlin, LSU junior wide receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry will both enter the 2014 NFL Draft and end their careers with the Tigers.
Beckham, the winner of the fourth-annual Paul Hornung Award, given to the nation’s most versatile player, caught 59 passes in 2013 for 1,152 yards and eight touchdowns, and he also set the LSU single-season record for all-purpose yards. Landry led all LSU receivers this season with 77 catches for 1,193 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Landry and Beckham were the primary targets for senior quarterback Zach Mettenberger in LSU’s revitalized passing attack this season. For the first time since 2009, the Tigers passed for more yards than they rushed for, and their 3,263 total passing yards marked their highest total since the 2006-2007 season.
Landry and Beckham brings the total number of LSU underclassmen entering the 2014 NFL Draft to four. Junior defensive tackles Ego Ferguson and Anthony “Freak” Johnson announced their intentions earlier this week.
Without Landry, Beckham Jr. and senior receiver Kadron Boone next season, the Tigers will retain only two receivers who made receptions in 2013. Freshman Travin Dural and junior Quantavius Leslie combined to make eight receptions this season. Dural caught seven passes for 147 yards and two touchdowns, while Leslie’s lone reception went for 11 yards.
