LSU freshman running back Leonard Fournette was named Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week today after his performance against Texas A&M.
Fournette rushed for a career-high 146 yards and a touchdown against the Aggies. The New Orleans, Louisiana native torched the Texas A&M defense for an average of 7.7 yards per carry.
The 6-foot-1, 230 pound running back put together the highlight of the night Thursday when he truck-sticked a defender en route to a 22-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Fournette’s run knotted the game up at seven a piece, and boosted the Tigers to a 23-17 victory.
Fournette’s big run helped the Tigers rack up 384 yards on the ground, which is the most LSU has had in an SEC game since 1997 when it rushed for 400 yards against Kentucky.
