LSU women’s basketball has added three transfers to its team in guards Kailyn Gilbert, Shayeann Day-Wilson and Mjracle Sheppard.
The three guards join Arkansas transfer forward, Jersey Wolfenbarger, and incoming true freshman, Jada Richard, as the Tigers’ newcomers.
The new additions also provide significant depth and experience at the guard positions and on the perimeter.
Kailyn Gilbert
Gilbert is a 5-foot-8 guard from the University of Arizona, where she spent her past two collegiate seasons.
This past season, Gilbert scored 15.1 points per game along with 5.3 rebounds per game and 2.3 assists per game. She shot 41.9% from the field and 40% from three.
Gilbert scored over 20 points in six games this past season, highlighted by a 26-point performance against Texas, who was ranked No. 5 in the country at the time.
Shayeann Day-Wilson
Day-Wilson is a 5-foot-6 guard from the University of Miami. She spent her first two collegiate seasons at Duke before transferring to Miami for the 2023-24 season.
At Duke, she earned ACC Freshman of the Year honors in 2022. In her true freshman season, she scored 12.7 points per game along with three rebounds per game and 3.7 assists per game.
This past season at Miami, she scored 11.9 points per game along with 2.7 rebounds per game and 3.5 assists per game. She shot 41.4% from the field, the highest out of her three collegiate seasons, along with 36.8% from three, also a collegiate career best.
Mjarcle Sheppard
Sheppard is a 5-foot-10 guard from Mississippi State, where she just finished her true freshman season.
For her freshman season, she scored five points per game along with 2.6 rebounds per game and 2.1 assists per game.
Her career high came in just her third collegiate game against Jacksonville State, where she scored 14 points along with four assists. She averaged 17.6 minutes per game.
