With spring break around the corner, most students have decided that they should probably start eating better and exercising. One student who is adamant about eating and staying healthy is LSU sophomore Shelby Adams.
“And who’s not interested in leading a different lifestyle, a better life style, making your appearance better, your life better and living longer?” Adams said.
Eating healthy isn’t always easy, but it’s definitely worth it. Most students struggle with nutrition because they don’t know how to eat healthy.
“I made squash that you can just get from the grocery store. Slice it up, put it in the pan, with olive oil, any seasoning that you have and you just heat it up until it gets a little brown and crispy. And that’s it. It’s the easiest thing,” Adams said.
And it really is that easy. But if you’re not into squash, there are plenty other options for you to chose from.
“A scrambled egg sandwich. You could get an english muffin, a whole grain english muffin, scramble an egg. It takes about 3 minutes to scramble an egg,” said Judy Myhand, a senior instructor in the School of Nutrition and Food Sciences.
Or if you don’t have a kitchen
“Some yogurt. Buy plain yogurt and then add things to that yogurt like fruit or grains,” Myhand said.
When you’re going through your day it’s important to hit something in all the five basic food groups. These groups include dairy, whole grains, fruits vegetables and some kind of protein source.
So instead of hitting up Chik-Fil-A the next time you’re in the union, you may want to think about packing a healthy lunch instead.
