This past weekend, hundreds of LSU students came together in the AG barn to raise money for Childrens Miracle Network Hospitals by standing for 26.2 hours. Dance Marathon is a marathon of raising money, dancing, and hearing the stories of the families that have been directly affected through Our Lady of the Lake hospital right here in Baton Rouge.
The true motivation for this event is FTK—for the kids
“One thing I really believe in is children. Children are the future and Childrens Miracle Network helps make sure that his happens,” said Brittanie Wagnon, a two L at LSU Law Center.
One of the children that made a huge impact on the students was Daisy.
“She’s just got such a great heart and she’s living with a disease that’s incurable. She has to go to the hospital for 14 hour treatments for every three or four weeks and it really hit me… What am I complaining about,” Wagnon said.
Students were also given an hour to raise as much money to buy red wagons for the patients at Our Lady of the Lake.
After an hour, Dance Marathon raised over 5 thousand dollars which could buy 145 red wagons for the patients at Our Lady of the Lake
The last hour of dance marathon is called power hour—it’s the last hour to raise money and last hour to stand on your feet.
With only a few minutes remaining, the total amount of finally revealed.
Dance Marathon was able to raise $182,672.45 for the kids.
