LSU cancelled classes Monday due severe storms and tornado warnings in the Baton Rouge area.
There have been reports of flooding in Atkinson and Lockett Hall. Trees by the French House have crushed cars owned by construction workers working on renovations.
“I wasn’t scared but I was worried about other people that were in buildings that flooded,” LSU Freshman Latrissia Torres said.
Torres was in South Hall, the Mass Communication residential college during the storm.
Apartment complexes around LSU lost power but the campus itself still has power at this point.
Many students were upset with the amount of time it took for LSU to send out information.
“I had to go to use things that weren’t even LSU sources to get information,” Marissa Torres, Latrissia’s sister, said.
LSU lifted their shelter in place. There are still reports of flooding in the street and tree branches down throughout branches.
Classes will remain canceled for the remainder of the day and night.
