No. 1 LSU Baseball had another shut-out 12-0, but this time the victim was No. 20 DBU at 8 P.M.on Saturday in game four of the Baton Rouge Regional.
Kade Anderson started the night off striking out the leadoff hitter for DBU and maintained that momentum during the six innings he pitched. He ended the night with 11 strikeouts, two BB and zero runs
Offensively, the Tigers were on fire as well, especially center fielder Chris Stanfield. Stanfield hit his first home run of the year in the bottom of the second and three RBI.
However, the first tiger to strike was Ethan Frey with a line drive to right field and two RBI, giving the Tigers a 2-0 lead.
Steven Milam finished the game with three runs on the night. His final run was late in the sixth inning off Luis Hernandez’s double steal. (9-0 LSU)
The Tigers did not hit the brakes on runs even though the game was coming to a close; Frey hit an in-the-park home run to kick off the eighth inning. (10-0 LSU) Then, Ashton Larson allowed Milam to score on a sacrifice fly. (11-0 LSU)
DBU’s defense continued to struggle with executing, and Zach Todd threw a wild pitch and Arrambide scored from third for LSU’s final run. (12-0 LSU)
DBU’s bullpen had no response to LSU’s explosive at bats. Starting pitcher Micah Bucknam allowed six runs, 2 BB and only struck out two players. He was quickly relieved but nobody who followed was able to put out the fire.
Next up for the Tigers and DBU, LSU will look to play the winner of the DBU vs. Little Rock game Sunday at 2 P.M. The Tigers will follow up after at 8 P.M.
