The LSU women’s basketball team defeated Southeastern Conference rival Missouri, 74-65, Monday night in the PMAC for its second win in a row.
LSU (12-9, 6-3 SEC) has been consistent against Missouri (12-10, 2-7 SEC) recently, beating its conference foe in their previous five matchups. Missouri has not defeated LSU since its move to the SEC and has not won the matchup since 1988.
LSU blew a 20 point lead in the second half, allowing Missouri to go on a 21-3 run, but was able to hold off Missouri down the stretch.
LSU senior guard Raigyne Moncrief led the Lady Tigers with 21 points on 8-of-15 shooting, while Missouri was led by its top scorer, sophomore forward Jordan Frericks, who had 23 points and 12 rebounds.
Though Missouri dominated LSU in points in the paint with 34, LSU shut down Missouri’s perimeter shooters, who went 3-of-19 from the three-point line. LSU also held the top 3-point shooter in the SEC, Missouri senior guard Morgan Eye, to one point and 0-for-3 from the 3-point line.
