Aided by a 27-point halftime lead, the LSU men’s basketball ran away from Tennessee, 73-55, on Saturday afternoon in Knoxville, Tennessee.
The Tigers (18-7, 7-5 Southeastern Conference) overcame a 13-0 run by the Volunteers (14-10, 6-6 SEC) and 10 turnovers in the second half on its way to a comfortable 18-point win.
Jordan Mickey led all scorers with 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting to go with 11 rebounds. Saturday’s performance was Mickey’s 15th double-double, and he nearly achieved a triple-double, finishing with seven blocks.
LSU got off to a hot start, shooting 7-of-10 from 3-point range in the first half, including 3-of-5 3-point clip from junior guard Keith Hornsby.
The Tiger overpowered a smaller Tennessee lineup, outrebounding the Volunteers, 36-28, and held the Vols to 36.8 percent shooting.
