LSU Student Dalton Hall revisited the railway where a train hit him 8 months ago.
“My panic level is up right now being close to it,” said Hall.
Making this trip back, reminds Hall how much he’s recovered since the accident.
“Just this past month I can now jog and jump a little bit,” said Hall. “I have been playing a little basketball.”
On January 30th, Hall tripped and fell on a train track on his way back home from Tigerland.
“I was walking down there by the track and was trying to cross over to use the bathroom,” said Hall. “After using the bathroom I tripped coming back over.”
Hall spent the rest of the year recovering in Missouri and getting used to his prosthetic leg. Hall is back at LSU this year taking classes and hanging out with friends at the Sigma Chi Fraternity House.
Hall’s fraternity brother Matthew Dupre said he’s happy to have Hall back at LSU.
“We as his fraternity brothers, we are the ones who are obviously surrounding him everyday,” said Dupre. “That was going to fall on us in terms of helping him adjust to that daily life.”
Hall has been using his prosthetic leg for five months now, which makes life easier but also presents some challenges.
“Getting ready in the morning takes a lot longer than it used to,” said Hall. “I can’t just hop in the shower and go, I have to go wash the part of the leg that is in the prosthetic leg. So in the shower, I have to take it off and use my walker to go over in the shower”
Visiting the track triggers memories from the past, but Hall said it reminds him how thankful he is to be alive.
“For everything that could have happened by being hit by a train this is probably the best outcome, just a below the knee amputation,” said Hall. “I’m just living my life about as normal as ever
