BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — An East Baton Rouge Parish grand jury has indicted a 51-year-old Baton Rouge woman on a charge of second-degree murder in the May 3 death of her husband.
The Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/1IBcxiR) Euphoria Beauchamp faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison if convicted as charged in the death of 56-year-old Noel Beauchamp.
District Attorney Hillar Moore said Wednesday her statements to police appear inconsistent with the physical evidence.
In an affidavit of probable cause, Beauchamp told police her husband began violently striking her in the face, so she pulled a handgun from her purse and shot him several times in the neck and face.
Detectives says they saw no bruising or injuries she when Euphoria Beauchamp was arrested on May 5.
It was unclear whether she has an attorney.
