Early Friday morning, a University student was injured on the train tracks near Tigerland, according to the Baton Rouge Police Department.
BRPD Capt. L’Jean McKneely said police are investigating the incident on the 4800 block of Nicholson Drive south of Bob Pettit Boulevard last night involving the student. He said the student was on foot, and no one else was injured.
“We got a call at about 2:14 [a.m.] about a guy who apparently, I think was asleep on the railroad track and got run over by a train,” McKneely said. “He had several lacerations to the head and apparently he was injured on the leg.”
The student was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, McKneely said.
McKneely confirmed the victim attends the University, but he was unable to confirm the victim’s identity.
