Episode five begins with a robot delivering a present to Leslie’s house, and of course, this high-tech present delivery is courtesy of Gryzzl. Inside is Joe Biden’s book, so Leslie’s thrilled until she, Ben and Donna find out these personal presents are the result of Gryzzl’s data mining.
Leslie holds a town meeting and learns the entire community is tired of Gryzzl prying in their business and receiving super personal presents, in public.
Leslie and Ben go undercover to infiltrate Gryzzl’s headquarters to snoop, but since Gryzzl knows everything, they recognized Leslie and Ben instantly. Gryzzl admits they are data mining, so Leslie suggests they hold a debate to discuss the issue.
And debate they do, on “The Perdple’s Court” featuring Perd Hapley as Judge Perd—who has absolutely no qualifications and isn’t a real judge. Right before they debate, Ron brings Ben a 500-page user agreement Ben signed off on allowing Gryzzl to access whatever information they want about anyone.
Ben missed the fine print when he signed the document because it was the same day the “Star Wars” movie came out, and we all know how Ben feels about “Star Wars.” Since Gryzzl has permission to access information via the agreement, Leslie no longer has any dirt on the company.
Meanwhile, Tom offers to be Andy’s agent to keep his mind off Lucy and her boyfriend. They meet with Andy’s station manager, played by Dax Shepard, and attempt to negotiate a raise for Andy. Tom then finds out Lucy broke up with her boyfriend.
April still isn’t satisfied with her job, so when new interns visit the office, she does everything she can to convince them to leave. Craig is upset with April for running off the interns, but she finds an entire new group to make it up to him.
The episode ends with Ron at Leslie’s door holding a Gryzzl robot he shot down after it brought a present to his 4-year-old son. Ron realizes “no one is safe from these bastards” and agrees to work with Leslie to take down Gryzzl.
Episode six begins with Donna and Joe sampling wedding cake in Tom’s Bistro. Tom brings out a special “Treat Yo Self 2017” cake, and the two head to Beverly Hills for an adventure.
Back in Pawnee, Gryzzl’s Vice-President Roscoe Santangelo tries to redeem Gryzzl with a free concert featuring U2 and Beyoncé. During the concert’s announcement, Leslie finds out the Newports sold their land to Gryzzl because the company upped their offer to $125 million.
Upset, the crew takes a trip to JJ’s Diner for waffles where they discover a new landlord is threatening to put the diner out of business. The new landlord is Dennis Feinstein, the cologne guy who Tom once idolized.
Leslie stages a protest outside of Feinstein’s office to save JJ’s Diner, and Andy pays a visit to Feinstein as Jonathan Karate, Johnny Karate’s older brother who deals with real issues, but their attempt to intimidate Feinstein fails. April suggests property in her neighborhood could house a new location of JJ’s Diner, but it would take a lot of work to spruce up the area.
While they’re searching for a solution, Tom and Donna are busy shopping, having their elbows bedazzled and eating sushi made from celebrities’ personal fish, including Josh Groban who’s at the next table.
Donna encourages Tom to tell Lucy he likes her and wants her to be his date at the wedding. Tom’s nervous Lucy won’t like him, but Donna offers him some helpful advice; “When it comes to matters of the heart, treat yo self.” Lucy eventually tells Tom she’d love to be his date for the wedding.
Leslie invites Roscoe to the neighborhood and suggests they use the buildings there as their new headquarters. She said they need good PR, which they would receive by fixing up the area and donating the Newport land to the National Parks Service. This would also help populate the area for a special diner.
The episode ends with Leslie discussing her worries about their proposal with Ron. She’s worried Gryzzl will reject their offer, but Ron’s not worried. After letting her sweat it out, Ron tells Leslie that Gryzzl called earlier in the day and agreed to give the land to the National Parks Service.
