With the start of the summer, now is a better time than ever to start looking into some new headphones to get you through those summer days. Today I am going to be focusing on a couple of bluetooth headphones that are considered to be some of the better ones.
Plantronics Backbeat Fit
These are great headphones, with one fatal flaw. But before I get to that, I want to give you the pros to the set.
The speakers are booming loud and they have a low profile. I honestly do not know how much better the sound quality can get for something that streams MP3s from your phone over a wireless connection. The bass is good, and the highs come out great as well. In order to cut down on weight, the controls are split between the two earbuds as you can see above. On the left you have volume down, that tiny rectangle above the play/pause button, that is tough to hit at first but becomes second nature soon enough. While the low profile is nice, pressing the buttons into your ear is not. In fact, the biggest flaw with these headphones are the way the earbuds fit into your ear. There is no sugarcoating it. These non removable earbuds will either fit your ears perfectly or they simply will not fit. There are no alternate sizes. My advice if you are interested in these earbuds are to see about going to a store and trying them on or finding someone you know with them. You will know immediately which side you lean on, and for $129 you need to know they fit.
While the headphones have great sound, the poor fit for some cause major leak and diminish the sound quality for the person listening. This drops the score of the headphones to a score of
6/10
LG 97023VRP Tone Pro
The LG Tone Pro range of headphones are odd to say the least. Just looking at them might confuse people on how they are worn in general. After actually using them though, the set will become easier to use. The way the device is worn is by resting the large plastic fins on either shoulder and the putting the earphone wires in like you would normal headphones. The controls are located on either side of the fins, and while wearing something around your neck is awkward at first, access to the buttons is relatively more simple than trying to remember which side everything is on with the Plantronics. I was skeptical at first how the plastic strap would say on my shoulders when I was in motion, as rarely as that is. I played with my dog and ran around with her and the strap stayed in place just fine. I was legitimately impressed. The sound quality is not as sharp or deep as the plantronics, but they are good enough to be competitive. They stay in your ear regardless of what size it is because it has interchangeable earbud covers. That is a major plus. Plus the sound is simply better because there is no leak out of the side of your ears. If I had to choose between the two, I would definitely go with the LG brand. While they do not feel as of high quality as the Plantronics, they actually fit the most ears, giving them a major step up. For $70 dollar headphones, they are not nearly as quality of a build as they should be. All of the money went to the inside of the of the set rather than making the outside feel quality. That said, the price and the sound quality
While they do not feel great to hold, the fit in your ear and the sound quality that comes with them redeem the poor build. In terms of total package I would give these a score of 8/10. If you need bluetooth headphones, these are the way to go.
