No. 8 LSU took down Ole Miss in a tight affair that went down to the last possession.
Ole Miss jumped out to an early lead, and took a 21-17 lead into halftime behind 2 rushing touchdowns by sophomore quarterback Bo Wallace.
The Tigers came roaring back in the second half behind freshman running back Jeremy Hill. Hill ran for 3 touchdowns on the night.
The biggest play of the night came when sophomore wide receiver Odell Beckham Junior took back an Ole Miss punt 89-yards for a touchdown.
The return was eerily similar to Billy Cannon’s famous punt return for a touchdown against Ole Miss in 1959.
On the ensuing drive LSU’s defense answered the call, sacking Wallace on consecutive plays to force the Rebels into a 53-yard field goal attempt.
Senior kicker Bryson Rose missed the kick, setting up LSU’s offense for the potential game-winning drive.
The offense responded by driving 64-yards on 9 plays. The drive was capped off by a 1-yard Hill touchdown run.
After a failed extra-point attempt LSU held a 41-35 lead.
It was a lead that Ole Miss could not overcome, and LSU escaped with the victory.
The win brought LSU to 9-2 on the season.
