Students looking to get information on the technology industry’s newest features can attend the annual Spring Information Technology Forum and Tech Fair tomorrow. The forum is hosted by the Office of Information Technology Services. ITS is partnering with IT vendors and LSU Libraries to host the event. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. in 225 Peabody Hall with coffee and pastries. General session begins immediately at 9 a.m. with a presentation on LSU Internet border security with speaker Boyd Bourque of ITS. Sheri Thompson, ITS communications and planning officer, said the tech fair in the library is something for all students. Representatives from EA Sports, IBM, Microsoft and Dell will be present, she said. Immediately following the presentation, students can attend information sessions from Dell, Apple and Microsoft. Thompson said all are invited to attend the sessions, but the event will be aimed toward tech-savvy students and faculty. The first set of sessions begins at 10 a.m. Apple will host a presentation on dual-boot features. Microsoft will host another presentation on unified communications. Both will feature speakers from their respective companies. The second set of sessions will begin at 3 p.m. Dell will have a presentation on flexible computing solutions and on-demand desktop streaming. Microsoft will host a presentation on visualization from the data center to the desktop. Students will also have the opportunity to turn in evaluations of the forum. In addition to the presentations, students will have the opportunity to view vendor displays and register for prizes. The event is open to the entire University community.
