CollegeBaseballInsider.com announced the LSU baseball team as its “Team of the Week” on Wednesday morning.
The Tigers (29-16-1, 9-11-1) won all five games they played this past week. Three of those wins game in a weekend home series against then-No. 12 South Carolina.
The sweep of the Gamecocks was the Tigers’ first sweep of a Southeastern Conference team since 2006 and LSU’s first conference sweep in Alex Box Stadium since 2003.
LSU’s week also included a 6-0 victory against McNeese Sate in which the Tigers’ pitching staff combined for the team’s first one-hitter since April 1997.
The Tigers’ 29 wins matches their win total from this past season. LSU has six regular season games remaining. The team faces Kentucky in a three-game road series this weekend before returning home the following weekend for a three-game series against Mississippi State.
