Frontier Airlines, a low-cost air carrier, will fly its last flight out of Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport today at 2:28 p.m.
The company announced Feb. 15 that it would discontinue its service amid an “undisclosed amount of revenue lost by Frontier since service was initiated on August 15, 2007,” according to a BTR news release.
The airport said “the loss in revenue by Frontier is derived from the lack of connecting passenger traffic beyond Denver.
“Over 73 [percent] of the current passenger traffic has been utilizing the service for local [Baton Rouge to Denver] whereas only 27 [percent] of the passengers are flying beyond the Denver hub … Frontier has stated a large portion of their revenue stream is dependent on the connecting passenger flying through Denver.”
Frontier Airlines’ service at BTR ends today — 10:50 a.m.
