LSU junior first baseman Matt Clark and UL-Monroe pitcher Derek Ward were named the Louisiana Sportswriters Association Players of the Week, it was announced Wednesday.
Clark went 6-for-11 and had five RBIs and three runs in the Tigers’ three-game sweep of Auburn this past weekend.
The Fontana, Calif., native is batting .396 and has six home runs during LSU’s 16-game hitting streak.
On the season, Clark is batting .333 with 19 homers and 47 RBIs.
LSU opened the Southeastern Conference tournament this morning against No. 7-seed South Carolina.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Gamecocks were beating the Tigers, 1-0.
