LSU seniors Richard Thompson and Kelly Baptiste were honored Monday with the Southeastern Conference Male and Female Outdoor Runner of the Year awards.
LSU coach Dennis Shaver was also honored, taking home the SEC Outdoor Women’s Coach of the Year Award for the second straight season.
Thompson became the first LSU athlete since Tyson Gay in 2004 to win both the 100- and 200-meter dashes at the SEC Outdoor championships. His 100-meter time of 9.93 is an SEC record and the second fastest time in the history of collegiate track and field.
Baptiste captured her first SEC crown in the 100-meter dash earlier this month with a time of 11.09 seconds. She finished second in the 200-meter dash with a seasonal best time of 22.87 seconds.
