Rising LSU junior quarterback Ryan Perrilloux is expected to miss the Tigers’ spring practice opener Friday. LSU Sports Information Director Michael Bonnette said Perrilloux’s absence from practice is part of his punishment. “He’s suspended indefinitely, just like coach said last week,” Bonnette said. “There is no additional information.” LSU coach Les Miles suspended the 6-foot-3-inch, 227-pound quarterback indefinitely this past week, citing a violation of unspecified team rules. Larry Dauterive, Perrilloux’s coach at East St. John High School in Reserve, told ESPN that Perrilloux missed classes to attend his father’s funeral. Dale Perrilloux Sr. died Feb. 7, but the quarterback did not notify his coaches of the absences and also missed a mandatory off-season meeting. Without Ryan Perrilloux, LSU will have only one quarterback on the roster with game experience. Junior transfer Andrew Hatch played in one game this past season, completing one pass for 9 yards. Perrilloux’s current suspension is the third time the LaPlace native has been suspended from the team in his career. This past October, Perrilloux was suspended for one game after his role in an alleged altercation at the Varsity Theatre. Linebackers Derrick Odom III and Jeremy Benton were dismissed from the team after the incident, but a warrant was never issued for Perrilloux’s arrest. Miles suspended Perrilloux indefinitely in May 2007 for allegedly using his brother’s ID to enter a local casino. Perrilloux was reinstated to the team before the 2007 season. During his sophomore season, the former National High School Player of the Year completed 68 percent of his passes and threw for eight touchdowns and rushed for more than 200 yards. In Perrilloux’s absence, Hatch and redshirt freshman Jarrett Lee are expected to receive the majority of the reps in spring practice.
