FOUR MEN ARRESTED DURING 21ST BIRTHDAY PARTYThree University students and a man unaffiliated with the University were arrested Wednesday on Aster Street for marijuana possession during one suspect’s 21st birthday.Christopher E. Peddie, 21, of 722 Riedel Drive, Houston; Henry H. St. Paul IV, 20, of 128 Stella St., Metairie; Charlie J. Johnson, 21, of 11545 Highway 99, Welsh; and Robert S. Duncan, 21, of 2200 Willowick Road, Houston, were each arrested for simple possession of marijuana.LSU Police Department spokesman Capt. Russell Rogé said the Crime Interdiction Unit stopped a black SUV near the West Campus Apartments for a traffic violation.Peddie, who was the driver, admitted to having a drink to celebrate his 21st birthday but was not intoxicated, Rogé said.Peddie gave officers permission to search his vehicle. They found a bag and pill bottle containing 14.4 grams of marijuana hidden under a baseball cap behind the driver’s seat.The four suspects were issued a misdemeanor summons and released.MAN ARRESTED FOR DISTURBING THE PEACEA man unaffiliated with the University was arrested early Sunday morning in Graham Hall.Eric Wesley Lunsford, of 817 Cheshire Drive, Coppell, Texas, was charged with unauthorized entry of a building, simple criminal damage and disturbing the peace.LSUPD officers responded to a call at Graham Hall about a man banging on the doors of the second floor. When officers arrived, Lunsford was on the fourth floor inside a room he didn’t live in. Rogé said Lunsford refused to open the door and tried to barricade himself in. There was damage to several hallway doors and in the room he attempted to barricade himself in.Lunsford was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.TWO STUDENTS ARRESTED FOR MARIJUANA POSSESSIONTwo University students were arrested Sunday evening after smoking marijuana in the middle of the Tiger Band practice field on Aster Street.Jacob C. Dempsey, 19, of 100 North Boundary Ave., Winnfield, and Sharon R. Ward, 18, of 3631 Verret Road, Westlake, were charged with simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.Rogé said LSUPD officers found a car parked in the middle of the Tiger Band practice field. When officers approached the car, they found a “leafy green substance” and cigarette papers in plain view on Dempsey’s lap.After searching the car, officers found two bamboo pipes and 4.2 grams of marijuana.Dempsey and Ward were issued misdemeanor summons and released.STUDENT ARRESTED FOR DISMANTLING SMOKE DETECTORA University student was arrested Tuesday for removing a smoke detector from the ceiling of his Herget Hall room.Alexander J. France, 19, of 2508 Lake St., Lake Charles, was charged with criminal mischief.Rogé said LSUPD responded to a fire alarm at Herget Hall. After they got to the residence hall, officers determined the alarm was coming from France’s room.France said he disconnected the smoke detector so he could sleep through a fire drill, Rogé said.France was issued a misdemeanor summons and released.STUDENT ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIAA University student was arrested Oct. 13 at about 10 p.m. for owning two smoking pipes.William A. Hawkins, 18, of 39501 John Wild Road, Ponchatoula, was charged with simple possession of drug paraphernalia.LSUPD responded to a call about someone smoking marijuana in a car in the Herget Hall parking lot.Witnesses told LSUPD officers the suspect had left the car before the authorities arrived, Rogé said.After officers determined the car belonged to Hawkins and questioned him, Hawkins admitted to having two smoking pipes and gave officers the two pipes, which contained marijuana residue.No marijuana was found on Hawkins or his vehicle, Rogé said.
Hawkins was issued a misdemeanor summons and released.
