(AP) –Governor Bobby Jindal is meeting with members of Congress in Washington, seeking federal aid to help Louisiana recover from hurricanes Gustav and Ike.
Jindal said he met with Louisiana’s congressional delegation and other members on Tuesday, to push for levee construction funding, plus aid for farmers and fishermen and grants to help cover damage to uninsured properties.
The governor said Congress should be able to push through aid for Louisiana as it debates the Bush administration’s proposed $700 billion bailout of banks and other financial institutions.
