More than eight months after the murders of Chandrasekhar Komma and Kiran Allam, and three months after three men were arrested, a trial date has not been set.Devin Jamell Parker, 19, 6813 Aspen Drive; Michael Jermaine Lewis, 19, 6756 Myrtlewood Drive; and Casey Gathers, 20, 6420 Buckeye Drive, were arrested and each charged with two counts of first-degree murder.Steven Danielson, the state’s lead prosecutor on the case, said he could not comment and referred The Daily Reveille to District Attorney Doug Moreau, who did not return numerous phone calls this past week.Parker was arrested May 21 by the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office on an unrelated simple robbery.Parker was then contacted by the Double Homicide Task Force, the group in charge of the investigation, and admitted to being present with Lewis and Gathers at the time of the murder, according to the arrest warrants of the three co-defendants.The task force consisted of officials from the LSU Police Department, East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, Baton Rouge Police Department, Louisiana State Police and U.S. Marshal’s Service.Gathers and Lewis were arrested May 22 in Vermillion Parish and brought back to Baton Rouge, said LSU interim Police Chief Gary Durham during a May 23 news conference.Parker told investigators he, along with Lewis and Gathers, forced Komma and Allam into Allam’s apartment.Parker said Gathers was the one who shot both victims in the head, according to the arrest warrants.”Right now, we’re just waiting on motions and trial dates,” said LSUPD spokesman Maj. Lawrence Rabalais.Rabalais said officials from the task force will all be subpoenaed to testify during the trials.
