The LSU soccer team was picked to win the Southeastern Conference Western Division for the second consecutive season, according to a poll of the 12 SEC coaches released Thursday.
“We’re certainly honored that the coaches think enough of our team to rank us as the preseason favorite to win the West once again,” LSU coach Brian Lee said in a news release. “But that means absolutely nothing when we lace up the cleats for the first time.”
The Tigers’ 2007 division title was the first in the team’s history.
Nine starters return from the 2007 squad that reached the second round of the NCAA tournament.
The coaches picked Florida to repeat as SEC champions despite the Gators returning only five starters from their 2007 Sweet 16 team.
