Doucette is right
In response to Greg Doucette’s comment, “My objective is that the student body won’t notice at all” (“SBT resigns, no election planned,” Jan. 29, Allred) regarding the resignation of Student Body Treasurer David Foxx, I would like to whole-heartedly agree. I’m not a big fan of agreeing with Student Senate members, however Mr. Doucette has a point — no one cares.

Edwards shouldn’t be acknowledged
As a junior in the College of Textiles, I could not believe the cover of the Technician (“Alum Edwards drops out of race,” Jan. 31, Hindi,Allred). Firstly, I saw John Edwards face and then I saw it said NCSU alumnus. I think this former presidential hopeful does not deserve to be acknowledged by this college when he refuses to acknowledge us. The last time I checked he did not claim N.C. State as his alma mater. Rather in interviews he has been quoted as bleeding “Carolina Blue.”
With this blatant disrespect for our great University, why would we let our cover story be about a man who got a great education from our university at the College of Textiles, one that got him into law school, and then disowns us all for the sake of popularity? I for one bleed Wolfpack red and I think the Technician shouldn’t put someone on the front page that doesn’t.

Lack of communication leads to serious headaches
Greetings from your favorite angry co-op. After the Technician posted my feelings of mistreatment towards co-ops last week, I was contacted by the director of the office of scholarships and financial aid who apologized for the mix-up and assured me that I would receive my loan check within a few days. I received my check yesterday and assumed that my problems with the University were finished for this semester.
I was mistaken.
I got an e-mail from University Housing (Hey, at least they contacted me) that said I was not enrolled in at least nine credit hours so I had to vacate my room. I am not enrolled in at least nine credit hours because I am in the co-op program and co-ops are allowed to live in Residence Halls. I’m not angry at University Housing because I don’t blame them for not wanting people who are not taking classes or doing anything academic living in the dorms. I am just frustrated that the University has such huge communication gaps between the departments that are essential to student affairs. It just seems that instead of me having to wake up early and go to the housing office before work, and receiving e-mails about having to vacate my residence, the University should have something set up so this doesn’t happen.

Seek the truth
I found Joe Wright’s column, “Liberality at N.C. State progressing” (Jan. 31), very disturbing. The idea of N.C. State becoming more like Carolina makes me sick to my stomach.
Joe is correct on one point: most campuses are indeed becoming more liberal, as is our society. On this note, if you need any evidence as to how messed up our society is, watch the news tonight and count the number of stories about murders and crime. The last thing we need is more liberalism and the idea that “everybody’s OK as long as they think they’re OK and feel good about themselves.” We’re all definitely not OK. Rather than allowing the moral decay of our society to continue with more liberalism on campus, students should seek something more fulfilling than liberalism or conservatism, race or gender, students should seek the truth. Please contact me if you want to know more.
