The Admissions, Recruiting Services and Student Aid and Scholarships offices have recently merged and will now be the Office of Undergraduate Admission and Student Aid.
“Those are the three offices that play a big part in recruiting students to come to LSU,” said Mary Parker, executive director of undergraduate admissions and student aid. “[The offices] all work really well but sometimes independently of each other.” The Office was made to serve as a “one-stop shop” for students to obtain information about admissions and scholarships. In the past, a prospective student who called the University regarding information about financial aid and admissions would be instructed to call the three different offices for information on each subject. “It’s really going to be much easier and much more efficient,” Parker said, adding that if a student calls the office for information, then “one person talks to that student from start to finish.” Another new feature from the merger is the new Office of Enrollment Technology and Communication. Prospective students will not work directly with this office, which focuses on communications strategies, Parker said. “The Office of Enrollment Technology and Communication looks at data to come up with what type of students [the University] is looking for,” Parker said. Parker said recruiters from her office will then go out and try to recruit such students. Although the merger and subsequent changes made will not directly affect students who already attend the University, current University students will eventually have to go to Pleasant Hall to talk to their financial aid counselors instead of Himes Hall.
