Community Over Self (COS) facilitates a coordinated student-led effort to affect change in the LSU and immediate Baton Rogue community.
With mid term examinations finally completed, the last thought on students’ mind are finals; however, an important University regulation could affect study habits and stress-load that last week of school. The University allows for students with three or more finals on one calendar day to request one be rescheduled.
But, what if you have three or more exams in one 24-hour period: two Friday afternoon and a 7:30 a.m. Saturday exam? Your one calendar day ends at midnight – good luck studying for Chemistry 1201 all night.
COS believes that replacing the one calendar day requirement with a 24-hour period would provide students a more healthy academic environment in which to excel.
Please express your concerns about this policy to Chancellor O’Keefe because final examinations should be a determination of knowledge, not of stress management.
