The Office of the Dean of Students announced Monday that Interim Assistant Dean of Students Angela Guillory has been confirmed as the permanent Assistant Dean of Students – Director of Greek Affairs.
“It’s an honor and a privilege to have been chosen for this position, a very important position in this University,” she said.
Guillory has worked in the Office of Greek Affairs since 2002 and served as the interim director since July 2005, when former Director Victor Felts left the University for a position at Emory University in Atlanta.
“[Guillory] brings a sense of professionalism to the department, as well as an absolute commitment to the Greek experience on our University campus,” Dean of Students K.C. White said. “She also has additional experience in campus life in addition to involvement with fraternities and sororities.”
White said a screening committee composed of herself, fraternity and sorority advisers and students narrowed down a pool of possible candidates for the position.
“Upon Angela’s interview, and with all the evaluations and outstanding endorsement, I was advised to give her the job, and I absolutely concurred,” White said.
Guillory has had extensive experience in university leadership positions.
Guillory worked in Career Services at the University of Arkansas from 1991-1992.
Guillory has also been a member of the Association of Fraternity Advisors for 15 years and served on the national council of her sorority, Sigma Kappa, for 11 years. She was Sigma Kappa’s national president from June 1998 to June 2002.
