LSUPD arrested four minors in connection with a fire Sunday evening in a Tiger Stadium concession office.
The Baton Rouge Police Department and LSUPD located several minors who were allegedly in the stadium when the fire occurred, LSUPD Chief Ricky Adams said. The suspects were identified by witnesses at the stadium when the fire began.
Baton Rouge Fire Department Public Information Officer Barry Mounce reported the damages may be $300,000.
After interviewing the minors and their parents, three were arrested for trespassing and one for simple arson.
The minors are between the ages of 9 and 15, though the 9-year-old wasn’t charged, according to Adams. Another arrest is pending.
“The witness information was essential,” Adams said. “The investigators deserve a pat on the back as well. They were able to turn this case over in less than 24 hours.”
LSUPD worked with the BRFD and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms to determine the cause of the fire.
The investigation began after LSUPD received a call from the Gate 3 Tiger Concessions at approximately 6:25 p.m. on Sunday. LSUPD and BRFD arrived by 6:30 p.m.
According to Senior Associate Athletic Director Herb Vincent, the fire should not adversely effect the Tigers’ schedule.
“As of today, we don’t anticipate it affecting the game at all,” he said.
