In the late morning hours Tuesday, a BMW traveling inbound on Western Boulevard ran a red light at the Varsity Drive intersection hitting a Volvo before T-boning an N.C. State Facilities pickup truck, according to Sgt. Jon Barnwell of Campus Police.
The BMW caused the Volvo to spin around. After spinning, the Volvo hit the back of the Facilities truck.
“Three transports were made to the hospital; none appeared to be in critical condition,” Barnwell said.
Campus Police responded to the scene of the accident first, as the accident was adjacent, and shut down parts of Western. Raleigh Police responded immediately afterward, according to Barnwell.
“The accident happened shortly after 10 a.m., and parts of the street were shut down until around lunchtime — so about two and a half hours,” Barnwell said.
