Students out for revenge against Alabama coach Nick Saban for his move to the Miami Dolphins and later the Crimson Tide had reason to celebrate Saturday night.
Saban lost to unranked University of Louisiana at Monroe, 21-14, and his blunder is giving Tiger fans the chance to say “In your face, Saban.”
“It’s like Louisiana teams are out for vengeance against Nick Saban,” said Heather Goza, mass communication senior. “On Facebook, I changed my status to ‘Hahaha Alabama lost to ULM.'”
“I saw the score, and I was excited. I was happy he lost because he deserved it.” Blake Pontiff, chemical engineering freshman, said.
Other students said Saban’s defeat does not speak to his abilities as a coach.
“I don’t think its that big of a deal, because we lost to UAB. And I think history is repeating itself with [Saban’s] first year over there,” said Kellen Bozeman, kinesiology sophomore.
“I don’t think he’s a bad coach. I think he’s still one of the premiere coaches in the SEC,” said Delwyn Mitchell, environmental engineering senior. “You win some, you lose some.”
And that is definitely what has been happening in the college football with Oregon’s loss Thursday to Arizona and Oklahoma’s loss Saturday to Texas Tech.
“[Saban’s lost is] typical of the way the whole season is going this year. There has been a lot of upsets,” said Elizabeth Morris, business management freshman.
Some wonder how Saban’s loss to ULM reflects on the school, and Kellye Roussel, kinesiology freshman, said the Nov. 3 matchup between Alabama and LSU was a much closer game.
