Some students have been unable to login to their PAWS e-mail accounts since Sunday because the University’s service provider experienced a power outage. “This is ridiculous because we are supposed to be using it to access the things we need, and we can’t,” said mass communication freshman Antionette Ferrara. According to the University’s Information and Technology Services, service provider Outblaze experienced a serious power outage Sunday and has since been unable to retrieve information for most accounts. Outblaze is a multifaceted company that provides service to many other companies and schools, but the University seems to be the only one affected. Outblaze is located in several countries, including the United States, where it is based in Connecticut. The company was unavailable for comment. “I haven’t been able to get into my PAWS e-mail for days,” said mass communication junior Patricia Sterpu. “It’s very inconvenient.” ITS said the e-mail troubles weren’t caused by the University. “This is an external problem, not an LSU problem. And it was supposed to be fixed by now,” ITS communications officer Sherie Thompson said. As the problem continued for the third consecutive day, the Frey Computing Center is unsure of what exactly is wrong and when it will be fixed. “Normally I get all my homework and teacher e-mails from it, and I missed a quiz today because of it,” said psychology sophomore Keith Coleman.
