The No. 20 LSU soccer team lost its second Southeastern Conference match Sunday 5-0 to the No. 22 Florida Gators ending the Tigers’ four game unbeaten streak and extending the Gators’ winning streak to seven games. The five goals allowed were the most the Tigers have given up all season. The last time an LSU team surrendered this many goals was in the 2001 season when they fell to Arkansas 6-5 in overtime. This game marks the third time in five games that Florida has scored five goals. “Sometimes the score doesn’t reflect how a game actually unfolded, and today was one of those games. It could have easily finished 8-0,” LSU coach Brian Lee said in a press release. “Florida came out with tremendous intensity from the opening kickoff and was very good this afternoon.” The Tigers remain in first place in the SEC West after the lost because Auburn – the second place team – lost Sunday too. The Gators were able to jump out an early advantage and hold the Tigers scoreless for the big win. Senior KeLeigh Hudson scored a hat trick against the Tigers for a total of seven goals on the season. Her first goal of the match came at the 4:18 mark. Junior Ameera Abdullah and senior Stacy Bishop were both credited with an assist on the goal. Florida scored again at the 22:54 mark when sophomore Ashlee Elliot connected on a header into the net when she received a ball off a corner kick. Hudson was credited with the assist. Hudson’s second and third goals came within two minutes of each other between the 63rd and 65th minutes. Senior Daniela Sanchez added the fifth goal at 72:08. The Tigers only had three shots on goal the entire match, while the Gators had 11. “We’ve got a lot of work to do before stepping on the field next weekend against Arkansas,” Lee said in a news release. “It’s important that we refocus and get ready to play in our last game of the regular season on Friday night.” During its streak, Florida has only given up one goal – when they defeated Alabama 5-1 Oct. 21.
