Head coach of men’s football Tom O’Brien and some of the football players will have the stage at tonight’s pep rally at 7 p.m. on Harris Field.
“Just about everyone loves football, so plenty of people will be pumped up for our first game,” Zach Adams, senior class president, said.
According to Adams, a senior in industrial engineering, the band, the dance team and the cheerleading team will perform to “get the crowd excited for the Wolfpack feast of the Golden Knights.”
“It’s been a while since we’ve had a big pep rally, and it’s a chance to make a new tradition at N.C. State,” he said.
Brittney Eaves, traditions committee chair of the Alumni Association Ambassadors program, is organizing the rally along with Adams.
She said the idea for the rally was something they tossed around last year.
“Hopefully, it works out for us this year, and we’ll have bigger ones to come,” Eaves, a senior in biological sciences, said.
Although Adams said not much publicizing was done for the event, he hopes a crowd of at least 400 will show up.
Eaves said the ambassadors mostly advertised through word-of-mouth, at Convocation and at tonight’s STAT Pig Pickin’ before the rally.
She said she hopes the rally “kind of has that high-school [pep-rally] feel, but on a much bigger level.”
Adams and Eaves will emcee the event, which is expected to last about half an hour.
“We want to get everyone out there and pumped for Saturday’s game,” Eaves said.
