LSU will welcome 105 football players to campus Friday as the Tigers begin their third season under coach Les Miles.
The team will check-in to West Campus Apartments in the morning, while the afternoon will be used for football-related activities. The players will undergophysicals with the training staff and team doctors during the afternoonas well as getting fitted for equipment.
LSU will hold its first practice Saturday morning as the veterans will workout at the Charles McClendon Practice Facility. The freshmen, along with selected veterans, will practice Saturday afternoon. The first two days of practice will have the team working out in shorts and helmets.
The team will add shoulder pads in days three and four before dressing out in full pads for the first time on Wednesday, Aug. 8. After four days of split squad practices, the Tigers will workout as a full unitfor the first time Aug. 8.
The Tigers return 15 starters the 2006 team that posted an 11-2 overall mark, which ended with a 41-14 win over Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl.
